Topsail Island Beach is one of my favorite places in eastern North Carolina. We know a wide range of photo spots around the island. Shooting times and locations are generally based on weather. When the winds are strong on the ocean side we can go to the south end park to get beautiful sand dunes in the background or walk through the water in the inter coastal waterway. Along New Inlet River Dr. there are several very beautiful marsh backdrops to use that give the images a true feeling of the beauty Topsail Island has to offer. The Jolly Roger Pier is nice for ocean and dunes in the same location. To shoot a little earlier shade is needed. For shade the Surf City Pier is tough to beat. It is one of the most beautiful piers on the east coast if not the most beautiful. The Surf City Pier architecture is perfect for portrait photography as you can see below. Another good spot for shad is the Sneads Ferry bridge in North Topsail. From the island heading towards the bridge you will see a road called Shrimp Lady lane to the right just past the North Topsail Police Station. At the end of this road is a boat landing and a beautiful trail leading into a shaded marsh area. Mosquitos are thick and bug spray is needed but not to worry, we make our own. You can email us for more info on this. Another good location as we move north up the island just past the police station is the public beach access. This is a wonderful location when many areas on the beach are limited on space at high tide. A known location with little beach at high tide is the beautiful Villa Capriani. This beautiful resort is one of the more high-end locations to stay or for weddings and events. For beach portraits the tide must be low or one of our alternate locations is recommended. Just past Villa Capriani is our final shooting location. The North Topsail Pier has provided us with a wonderful photography environment time and time again. It's the perfect end location for a session because the pier is also one of the better, more well-known restaurants in the area.
